‘Flu Hands’ – A new series of photo gravure prints
The series is made to reflect the experience of influenza on a person who has a compromised immune system. The original photographic images were recorded on a google pixel phone from a sitting position during a week of confinement to bed.

The images were imported into Photoshop, given hand-drawn borders and a curve to deliver the most effective positive image to be printed onto a photopolymer plate and subsequently exposed to UV light, developed in water and cured in sunlight. The exposed plate was then inked by hand with a warm red and soft black etching ink, wiped and printed through an etching press onto Hahnemühle paper.
