The etching prints are developing under their own momentum and will be a series in their own right standing in comparison with the digitally drawn images of the same hard drives. This work has arisen from widening interests that have become apparent from readings and artistic study in the Covid Lockdown period when making has become difficult due to safety restrictions. Latterly as relaxation takes place I have had the privilege of spending one to one time with master printmaker and Birmingham School of Art printmaking technician Justin Sanders (@inkysanders). While I build back to my serigraphy research practice we have taken an open approach to interpreting the hard discs through intaglio printmaking. Considering the multitude of techniques within that category of print is throwing up opportunities to visualise the modern tools differently. The physical practices associated with the medium are particularly tactile which is a boon in these distanced and digital times as face to face has come to mean face to screen
